Boca Raton’s Inaugural Seafood Festival Promises a Feast of Flavors and Fun

Seafood lovers, mark your calendars! The City of Boca Raton is hosting its first-ever Seafood Festival on Saturday, March 22, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Mizner Park Amphitheater (590 Plaza Real). This highly anticipated event will bring together some of Boca Raton’s top chefs, a variety of delicious seafood offerings, live music, and family-friendly activities.

Seafood Showdown: Local Chefs Face Off

One of the festival's biggest highlights is the Seafood Showdown, where three of Boca Raton’s top chefs will compete in a high-stakes cook-off at 1 p.m. Each chef will showcase their culinary expertise by crafting mouthwatering seafood dishes in front of a live audience and a panel of expert judges. Meet the talented contenders:

• Chef Jeff Tunks (Corvina Seafood Grill): Known for his bold flavors and commitment to sustainable seafood, Chef Tunks will bring his signature coastal cuisine to the competition. Corvina Seafood Grill is a Boca Raton favorite, famous for its freshly shucked oysters, ceviches, and expertly prepared seafood entrées.

• Chef Kevin Avellaneda (Penelope’s): As the executive chef of this Southern-inspired seafood and cocktail bar in Mizner Park, Chef Avellaneda is ready to impress with his modern takes on classic seafood dishes.

• Chef Yora Chan (Loch Bar): Representing the popular Loch Bar, Chef Chan specializes in fresh seafood with a Maryland-style influence. Her creativity and expertise make her a strong contender in this exciting culinary battle.

Gumbo Limbo’s Ocean-Themed Activities

Join the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center team for interactive games, crafts, and marine life education. Play ocean trivia for a chance to win a prize and take a photo with Luna, the center’s friendly mascot.

Crab Cake Challenge

Think you can handle the ultimate seafood showdown? Up to eight contestants will race to finish a towering stack of delicious crab cakes in this fast-paced eating contest. Sign up at the City of Boca Raton tent for your shot at the championship belt.
