UrbanX Air is set to revolutionize urban commuting in Miami with its plan to introduce Urban Air Mobility (UAM) through electric commuter flights across South Florida.

Slated to commence in 2026, this groundbreaking venture signals the beginning of a new era in electric air travel for the residents of South Florida. UrbanX Air is collaborating with state officials and key partners in infrastructure, energy, and technology to lay the groundwork for electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations. These flights are poised to offer a solution to short-distance travel challenges, bypassing traffic and reducing travel times, while providing a safer, more efficient, and environmentally-friendly transportation alternative.

In a significant development in 2022, GlobalX, the operators behind UrbanX Air, expressed their commitment to this future by signing an intent to purchase 200 eVTOLs from global eVTOL leader Eve. With the first 10 eVTOLs expected by 2026, UrbanX Air is on track to be the pioneer in introducing this cutting-edge aviation technology to South Florida, potentially transforming the region's urban transport landscape.

Lucy Morillo, President & CEO of UrbanX, highlighted the transformative potential of Urban Air Mobility in Miami, emphasizing the company's dedication to making this advanced technology accessible and beneficial to the broader community.

UrbanX Air's proposed route network targets vital areas in South Florida, aiming to provide residents with a swift, cost-effective, and lower-carbon commuting option, particularly in densely populated areas like Miami-Dade County. In partnership with Eve, UrbanX Air is strategically identifying key locations for origin and destination points to establish essential routes across the region.

The eVTOL aircraft, with its eco-friendly electric design and 60-mile range, is tailored to fulfill a range of UAM requirements in the Miami area, ensuring an effective and sustainable transport solution.

Ed Wegel, Chairman and CEO of GlobalX, emphasized the significance of integrating eVTOLs into their fleet. This integration aligns with their vision to offer a diverse range of travel options including international, domestic, regional, and intra-city journeys, catering to both residents and tourists in South Florida.

UrbanX Air's mission extends beyond providing zero-carbon transport solutions. It encompasses a social enterprise model aimed at delivering reliable, efficient, and safe transport via human-piloted eVTOLs in Miami-Dade County. This initiative includes working closely with local governments to extend its benefits to the entire community. This collaboration will cater to a wide array of needs, ranging from corporate, airport, airline, and cruise line requirements to public services like medical and senior care transportation, including subsidized fares for community-centric services.

Currently, UrbanX Air is in the process of forming an advisory board comprising community leaders and industry experts. This board will offer valuable insights and strategic direction, furthering the company's vision.

Johann Bordais, CEO of Eve Air Mobility, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration with UrbanX, highlighting the opportunity to leverage advanced aviation technology and exceptional customer service to redefine commuting and travel in South Florida.
